At Laurie’s Learn to Skate we think our Synthetic Ice surface is the best surface on which to start your beginner skater. It takes away the need for any skate aids, or a parent’s hand. The child feels confident because they can do it themselves and in doing so, find it fun and relaxing.

Children must be able to Stand alone on skates and Get up by themselves and walk across the ice without any assistance. Recommended children do the Synthetic ice surface first if they have never had lessons before.

What Makes Us Different!

Laurie's Learn to Skate has been running for over 25 years, and we have a passion for the success of your childs progress on and off the ice. We offer a wide variety of classes and programs for all ages. From week long camps to get ready for hockey we're there every step of the way.
Experience

Laurie has been teaching since 1984 in the Durham Region and Laurie’s learn to Skate opened in 1991. We added in the Synthetic ice surface in 1999 offering families a great first experience for their children to learn to skate. Classes are also offered on the Big Rink and Mini rink real ice surfaces.

Ratio of Instructor to Child

Our ratio is the best in the business. We offer a ratio of 6 children to 2 instructors on the Synthetic ice surface, 4 children to 1 instructor for all beginner kids on any real ice surface, and all other levels is a max of 6 children to 1 instructor.
